Most frequent questions and answers
The type of drywall you should use depends on what the drawings call for. Most homes will require 1/2″ plain drywall, and 1/2″ moisture resistant drywall for wet areas. Some homes will require 5/8″ type X firecode drywall if there is an attached dwelling or a property line close to yours.
Yes. Since basement apartments are considered separate dwellings that are attached, they will require a 1 hour fire separation between units. This can be achieved by using rockwool insulation, resilient channel, and two layers of 5/8″ type X drywall.
This depends on this size of the project you are working on. A basement could take anywhere from a week to a week and a half. A small house might take a week and a half. Drywall repairs can be completed in 2 days if the drying conditions allow
Mostly paper tape. In some circumstances we can utilize mesh tape, or a specialty tape known as fibafuse.
