Fibafuse tape is a relatively new type of drywall tape. In this article we will discuss how to use Fibafuse tape. Fibafuse is composed of woven fiberglass and is highly resistant to cracks and bubbles like traditional paper tape typically is. Fibafuse is ideal for mold free environments, has a thin profile making finishing easier, and is great for patchwork and repairs. You’ll learn the best practices and methods to use fibafuse tape after reading this.
Hand application to flat seams
Step 1: Apply joint compound to drywall joint.
Step 2: Apply tape over compound and joint.
Step 3: Cut the tape when you reach the end of the joint.
Step 4: Run a trowel or knife over tape to wipe any excess compound.
Step 5: When first coat is dry, apply a second coat of compound.
Step 6. When second coat is dry, you can sand it to a smooth finish or apply a finish coat to improve the final finish. Once that coat is dry you can sand it once more.
Application to Internal Corners
Step 1: Using your preferred method apply joint compound to the internal angle.
Step 2: Apply fibafuse to the inside corner, and wipe off any excess compound with a trowel or putty knife.
Step 3: Once the first coat is dry, apply a second coat to one side of the tape.
Step 4: When the second coat on one side has dried, apply a second coat to the opposite side of the corner.
Step 5: Once the joint compound has dried, sand to the desired finish.
Repairs
If you happen to notice a tear in any spots, apply compound to the tear, then apply a new piece of fibafuse to the torn section. Finish it with one or two more coats of joint compound.
If you happen to notice any dry spots on the fibafuse, simply apply joint compound to that spot, and the compound will soak through. Leave a comment or hit us up if you have any questions!
