Drywall Repair

Drywall Holes

Many homeowners or contractors in Toronto will find themselves needing to cut a hole in their existing drywall. Whether it be to access electrical wiring, re-insulate walls, or remediate mold growth. Patching drywall is a fairly simple process. Typically we will cut out a hole, address the underlying issue, install wood backing to fasten the drywall to, install brand new drywall, and tape it. Once the patch has been taped, mudded and sanded, it can be primed and painted. At RA Rosati Drywall, we are very familiar with patching drywall, making any repair quick and seamless.

Type of Drywall Compound

The type of drywall compound we use depends on the type of patch and the availability of material in Toronto. Typically we will apply mesh tape over small patches, and fibafuse or paper tape over larger patches. Next we will apply a coat of Sheetrock 45 to allow for greater bonding strength, preventing any cracking from occurring. The next two coats are applied with pre-mixed drywall compound. Once the compound has dried, it can be sanded. All of these materials can be found at most hardware stores in Toronto. Mold Abatement

Mold, a silent intruder, can wreak havoc on both your home and health. Drywall is susceptible to mold since the paper facing is organic material. Swift and effective mold abatement is essential for a safe living space. Start by identifying and addressing the source of moisture, as mold thrives in damp conditions. Contain the affected area using plastic sheeting and negative air pressure machines to prevent spore dispersion. Remove and discard contaminated drywall, cleaning non-porous surfaces with mold-killing solutions. Prevention is key; enhance ventilation, fix leaks promptly, and maintain low humidity levels. Prioritizing these steps ensures not only the elimination of existing mold but also guards against its unwelcome return. A proactive approach to mold abatement safeguards your home and promotes a healthier living environment.
